HDMI > TV ? HELP

Hi Guys,

So I was planning on playing NBA 2K14 last night but I was really disappointed :(.
It seems my HDMI cable is not being recognized by my PS3. I connected the cable to my laptop and it worked fine but when connected to the PS3 it says "Signal Not Found".

I tried resetting the video settings, pressing and holding the power button til I hear 2 beeps, but nothing happens. I see no option to change the settings. It keeps saying "Signal Not Found".

Am I missing something? Is there someone out there who can help me with my predicament?
 
Bad cable? I have seen some HDMI cables intended for PC use not working on AV systems.
 
Does the PS3 work if you use another cable?

Laaitie's new cable did the same, I just exchanged his cable with my PC's one and it worked fine.

No idea what the cause was but the PS3 just refused to "read" the new cable. Another standard HDMI cable worked. Out of interest what cable is it? This one didn't work on the PS3 but the one from my PC did:

Have this one in my PC now and my old standard HDMI in his PS3
 
You need to make sure that you have selected HDMI output on your PS3 in the settings or else won't work.
HDMI has gone faulty like my son's PS3, quite common apparently.
