My HDPVR has packed up.

For about 2 weeks it kept saying that there was a dsd upgrade and it would take about 20 minutes. then it just rebooted. Then eventually it actually did a dsd upgrade, when it came up again it says there is a hard drive error - cycle the power.

Bleh.

Do I have to drive to randburg to have this sorted? is there not somewhere on the east rand I can go to and get some service without waiting a week?

Can't you take it to Benoni Car radio & TV? I was told by MC that they do swap outs there, not sure if they can change hard drives?

The HD-PVR is a tricky one when it comes to replacing hard drives.... As far as I know with the UEC model, the serial of the hard drive is coded (married) to the PVR... dumb idea!! Have you tried to format the HDD? or looked to see if you can run the update again?

I think I can hand it in there, but they just send it to Randburg. still 2 weeks.

I suppose I have nothing to lose by formatting... I will give that a go tonight.

Otherwise I will have to drive out to Randburg sometime this week :(

ok. so I couldn't figure out how to format the drive, but after stuffing around with the pvr on and off for about 4 days it started working again.

Anyway it saves me a trip to mc in randburg.
