I am coming under increasing pressure at home to purchase a PVR. Not being clued up in these matters other than I know that the old PVRs' are no longer available, what should I get? I also need the Xtra View thing.

Who offer the best prices?

Get the Pace HD PVR, with a single view as your xtra view decoder. Do not get the UEC, at this stage...

if you dont need HD look at getting a SD pvr secondhand, and if yuo want the pvr then get the Pace like quantum said as for xtraview you can connect a sd pvr or dsd1110 or dsd 1132 (the 1110 looks nice :) )

What's your main reasons for recommending the Pace now? The new UEC software has pretty much sorted out the stutter issue

How's the experience with UEC? I have the Pace decoder for about six months now. Pretty happy with it now though there are still a few small irritations.

once a week or so the decoder loses picture -sound still on - and the only way to get picture back is to reboot.
Decoder also runs quite hot.
no easy way of setting up recording of series.
had a few instances where scheduled recordings did not record.

Its a little quicker then my Pace (but my Pace is 18+ months old), but I do prefer the Pace. I'm using the UEC at the moment & clearing recordings off the Pace to do a format which will hopefully speed it up a bit
