After a brief period of seeming to work it is failing horribly again.

Let's be careful out there folks...
 
This probably also applies to MTN data counters hosted by resellers on their own websites -- in my case MWeb, where it bears increasingly little relation to reality as measured by either the dashboard or NetMeter.
 
Gee wizz. After 8 months and still not working. Glad I am out of there but I must ask this:
Did MTN warn you that their data counter does not work? If not they are in breach of the law.
 
I threw a the mother of hissy fits today with MTN.
I terminated my data contract with them because they incorrectly billed my R454 out-of-bundle which I was not.
I raised the issue 2 months ago in person at 14th Avenue. Today my phone service (data service was linked to it) got terminated and needless to say all hell broke loose. The guy at the receiving end of 808 will probably never forget this as his training did not cover dealing with extreme irate customers. I refused to put the phone down and been on the line for 45 minutes, during which time I also drove to 14th avenue again, having him online and having the receptionist's phone with a billing person on the other.

And I'm not done yet. . . watch this space.

I have huge billing issues and MTN are just silent. I have multiple reference numbers, which go unasnwered.
 
This is how you go about it:
Phone 808, but do not EVER put the phone down. (I suspect they not allowed to hang up on you, but that just a suspision) They will tell you they sent emails to so&so. Do not agree to be happy with emails sent. MTN (808) sends emails to something like 'innovasion centre' which is a group consisting of lots of people, so no one person is picking up the request. Insist on speaking to a person or you want a PERSON's name and contact number, not 808 number. They all have numbers - I saw it on the outlook adress details. They can see every person that is linked to the 'group' they sending it too. (my request for reconnection was sent to at least 10-15 people that I could see that fitted onto the. screen. Guess what, still nothing sorted despite an urgent internal request).
I know in the billing dept, I spoke to a Marsha. She is but one of the 'supervisors'. I don't think they have indians, just chiefs!

If you have the patience, try find 14th avenue reception tel number and ask to speak to billing dept. Insist on a name and contact details
Failing that, just show up at 14th avenue if possible.
 
Just got of another 43 minute call to 808.
Gave me the same story about emails & escalation again, I refused to put the phone down. Either I speak to the person physically that must solve this or the supervisor of the call centre. (never got to supervisor state strangely enough).

Result: Bar lifted or so they claim.
And email received:
"Good day
A credit of R236.06 was passed for data error on your account. Another credit of R238.84 was also passed on this account. All credits will reflect by COB tomorrow. Totally credit R474.90
Query on data line is now closed

Don't argue with the call centre guys. The are just happy to have a job. They are told what to say even if they agree with you, which I am sure they do but cannot say so. Don't shout at them. Your child could be working there.
