Yay so I eventually unlocked Tyrande's Favorite Doll

About freaking time. The amount of time spent on Archaeology to get this 1 item I wanted is insane. Could have been level 6000 if it was allowed. Even took me 2 weeks after getting my 6th Nelf rare to get the 7th and last one, the doll.

So now atm I am running with the doll above and Jar of Ancient Remedies
Pretty good regen setup, but I will probably go the throughput way (intel ftw) once Fall of Mortality actually wants to drop off Cho'gall

OR also something for me to consider is Vibrant Alchemist Stone which is currently on the PTR

Poping my Brilliant Chimera's Eye in there it ends up with +378 Intellect, 194 Haste (I'm a Resto Druid so its actually pretty decent stat) & ie 40% extra Mana from Potion of Concentration
Dunno about you, but it seems pretty damn decent to me.

So how do other people find Archaeology?

Congrats! :)

I've got 1 more Night Elf rare to discover, and it's the doll... been at 525 for the past few weeks, daily farming = nothing yet :(

Best of luck mate! I know the feeling exactly and will hold thumbs for you! All I was doing was raiding and farming for the trinket since 85.

It reminds me of fishing on dry land, I think I would of liked more useful items at lower levels though. It does not have to be gear, but something interesting that makes you want to do it more.

Only profession I disliked leveling more is fishing, it's so time consuming and boring as hell. i usually pop on vent with a couple of friends whilest doing it and just nag and complain about it the whole time lol, atleast it keeps them entertained:D

Grats on your trinket :) And while I'm not quite at your level of raiding yet I would probably consider the Alchy stone mainly for the improved potion effectiveness (based on my experience with healers and mana in Cata, I'm not actually a healer, I'm a tank, but always watching healer mana anyway)

And as for Archaeology, well, after getting my DK tank to 85 and gearing a bit (and having fun on the AH) I leveled my lock from 80-85 via archy alone, I've done over 120 troll solves, no Zin'Rokh, 90 something Dwarf solves and no Staff of Sorcerer-Thane Thaurissan, about 30 Nelf and have 4 out of the 7 rares (no trinket though). Oh and over 1.7k fossil frags doing nothing.

After reading about a bug with some of the epics (mainly Zin) which sometimes flags your character as having found it when you haven't, I decided to level archy on my DK and save my troll frags before I'm not allowed to anymore (4.0.6). I must say that this prof is far easier with a DK because of DeathGate and +20% mount speed. And having recently found out that Alliance can ride the Zep from Undercity to STV made my life sooooooo much easier :)

Ye one needs to use all these little things to make it easier. I'm a druid and wanted the trinket, Kalimdor has over 50% Nelf ****, so I just used Teleport Moonglade to get to the top and hearth to SW and use Uldum portal to get to the bottom.

Addons that can help:

Archy - Archaeology Assistant
Archaeology Helper
GatherMate2 + GatherMate2_Data (Hud with nodes, gr8 with AHelper)

It took me 60 night elf solves at 525 archaeology to get Tyrande's doll so around a minimum of 2000 fragments which is around visiting 150 digsites. It took one of our guild paladins 200+ solves to get it - I'm suprised he didn't shoot himself.

The sad part is I am using tyrande's with a DMC: Tsunami and I am also an alchemist so Tyrande's is going back in the bank the moment the patch hits.

It get's easier when you hit 300 and go to Outland. The number of fragments needed for common items increases to about 45 per item, but I think most items can use keystones to complete. I managed to go from 300 to 375 in a single gaming session and the same for 375 - 450.

Now I'm back in Kalimdor hoping for Tol'vir digsites, since I want the Vial of the Sands recipe.

Didnt know the recipe was Bop lol, good thing I havent started farming for it been aiming for the troll sword and dwarf staff:)

Yip ofc :p I'd kick myself if I farmed the recipe on a non-alch character
Cool, just checking, I just hope they fix the model positions of those drakes quickly.
All the drakes sharing the model of the Vials of the Sands one looks horrible as the character model is sitting underneath the drake...

Off topic...
Any 1 man mount can carry a passenger in the last boss' room in the dungeon in Vashir(cant remember the damn name now>.<) have seen some pretty funny things, like the one with the camel your passenger stands on its head looks like a circus:D

twixt, I take it you are a Holy Priest and its because of Holy Concentration that you will use DMC: Tsunami instead of Tyrande's Favorite Doll

For others I'll quote:

"At 6k int we get: Darkmoon Card Tsunami=259mp5, Jar of Ancient Remedies=531Mp5, Tyranges Fav. Doll=350mp5. Depending on your class this might vary a small amount, for pally's both the int trinkets yield an additional 31mp5.

This still puts Jar>Tyranges>DMC:T"

Actually I am still focused on my resto druid these days - I am just a little lazy about 'on use' items and assumed the two trinkets were roughly equivalent in regen - as per usual assumption is the mother of all ****. Thanks for the tip :)
