Heat Insulation Tape for MacBook Pro 2014

I have a late 2014 15"MBP that keeps overheating. To solve the issue, I am busy replacing the thermal paste. When doing this I realised that the heat insulation tape around the CPU was severely damaged, so I removed that.
Where/how can I get a replacement for this? The original had some "foam"as well (probably to dissipate the pressure), so maybe I need an original?

Just to be clear, I don't mean the actual thermal paste, but the adhesive tape around the CPU, i.e. covering the small blocks.



P.s. I know this isn't the Apple thread, but I know this refers to other brands as well.

As much as I understand it is there to insulate the conducting blocks from the copper heatsink. Also, because there is some "foam", it seems to evens out the pressure from the heatsink.
According to some internet research, it is not a good idea to leave it off ...

Me neither. I've checked iFix but they don't even mention it. Others say that they used this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W3FAFP0 - I'd prefer to get an original but this laptop is nearly done anyway ...

Just note that AFAIK the OS is no longer supported (for a few years already), so if you do get it running, you might want to use OCLP to get to Sonoma:

So I ended up going to Macwave here in Cape Town - they had a donor board and gave me the appropriate tape ... thanks to everyone for their help!
