Heat sink and cooler use

Hi again.

On an another note....

I am upgrading a CPU from and i3 Sandybridge to an i7 Ivybridge on a LGA1155 mobo.

Can I reuse the stock intel cooler on the new CPU? I know I need to renew the thermal paste

Will the cooler suffice for the i7?

Any alternative cooler suggested instead?

I suppose you can but don't think it will work that well. The i3 has a all aluminium heatsink while the i5 and up has a copper core in the center.

There's a version (RHEA) with 3 heat pipes which is about R35 cheaper.
