Hi everyone. Please help me here. I have an Opel Corsa Lite 1.4 fuel injection. It has been serviced 2 weeks ago. After the service my fuel consumption had gone from bad to worse. Really bad. From 13 kilos n litre to 6. When I go to the back of my car I can smell fuel at the exhaust and my car is not idling smootly. I do drive on a dirt road daily and it's in a terrible condition. So I'm thinking something might have been disconnected after the bumpy road. Please help.

How must we gelp? Get under the car snd check for leaks.

My guess would be the mass airflow sensor or throttle position sensor (not sure if this model has the latter). Check around your engine bay near the intake manifold and air filter housing for any loose wires

There is a fuel filter at the rear of the car on the RHS very close to the back wheel. This filter may have been changed and the replacement not correctly installed. The problem is sometimes the fancy clip holding the fuel lines on to the filter do not engage and hold the pipes in place. It seems to be an easy job but still requires some care when installing. The other problem is the mechanic might have broken the clips when removing the old filter.

The pump will then suck air causing the bad idling and fuel leaks when standing.

Oky thanks. I will have a look at the fuel filter first and then see what happens if it's not that.

Did they change your timing belt, mine were once put on, wrong, and the car was heavier on fuel,
did you test your consumption on a normal tar road.

Sounds like an air/fuel mix problem. Probably o e of the sensors already mentioned.

i have the same vehicle.
it is the map sensor that got disconnected.
It is a pipe, but not easy to find if you don't know what to look for.

What is the use of that sensor.

Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. In a nutshell, it measure the pressure in your inlet manifold to determine load, then send a signal to ECU to control air/fule mixture, ignition and timing.

FWIW, I replaced the MAP sensor on my MK6 ST after experiencing cold start issues and heavy fuel consumption. Made no difference. They hardly ever fail.

I love the way, when someone doesn't even know enough to do an oil change themselves, they feel they should start trouble shooting when the mechanic makes a mistake.

Yeah it absolutely boggles my mind that people will do stuff themselves to avoid conflict for something they paid good money for.

Geesus, 6KM/L?

There is something very wrong with your car. Take it back... My 3.0 V6 did 6KM/L and that was when I was hammering it. Holy crap :D
