Helderberg / Stellenbosch Advice

Hi All

Im posting this on an alt for various reasons.

I am wanting to know if their are any of you guys from the Helderberg / Stellenbosch Area that know of any software developer openings. Had a look at the jobs sub forum but nothing really there.

I have 7 years experience in PHP and SQL (mostly postgresql) and almost 2 years in visual c#.

Im looking to work closer to home, hence looking for work even though I am currently full time employed.

If you know of any companies that are looking to hire drop me a PM and it will be much appreciated.

I'm a PHP developer and use to work in Somerset West. Opportunities are very limited salary wise, very limited.

I had to take a job in Cape Town CBD to get somewhere and no regrets. I started to earn 3 times my Somerset West salary within 2 yrs. Sadly nobody will pay my salary in the Helderberg, and that is still about 20% less than market related for my experience.

Problem is local employers know you're desperate to work here so they will always offer you way less than what you expect.

I commute via reliable bus service to Cape Town each day for R540 per month so its not like I'm going to save money by working closer to home.

Actually supply and demand. Everybody who lives in my town wants to work closer to home, especially when you have a family. So there is an endless supply of people who are willing to take a pay cut.
