EDIT PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS AN OLD THREAD THAT I HAVE "BUMPED" SINCE THE GAME IS ALMOST OUT. The newest post is post#34 on page 3.

Site Link.

Looks good. First DX10 game as well, finally. Had a look through the site and watched a couple of clips. Only two classes tho. :(

Thoughts?

Salivating in anticipation. The guys developing it used to be with Blizzard, so you know it'll be good. I think they'll be adding more classes. Hope I'm able to upgrade before it's released.

There are three classes - Templar, Cabalist and Hunter. And hell yes, I want it! Been waiting since I heard about it, around a year and a half ago.

Also has option of single player and on-line multi-player. Unlike Guild Wars.

Online Subscription Fees :

  • Multiplay will be free!
  • Elite Multiplay will cost $9.95 a month
  • Secure, closed servers hold your characters, even if you're not Elite
  • Elite players get 24/7 phone and online support; plebs get basic online support as with any other game
  • If there are queues to get on a server, Elite players go to the front
  • Elite players can have 12 characters in total; plebs get 3
  • Elite players can store around 40 items in "lockers" spread throughout the world; plebs can have 20. Elite players can also transfer these items to characters on other servers; plebs cannot
  • Elite players get unique gear and can wield the most powerful weapons in the game. Said weapons can also be emailed by the Elite to others of their kind
  • Elite players can board shuttles that transport them quickly to hard-to-reach corners of London
  • Elite players can become officers of guilds and own, enter, or operate player housing and guild buildings; plebs can be members of guilds, but will not be allowed to enter said buildings, or purchase property for themselves
  • Elite players get access to more gametypes; plebs not allowed into servers or areas where those gametypes are operating
  • Elite players will get new content each month, such as new monsters, new gametypes, new items, and so on

In other words plebs get the shaft in the online portion of the game. Brilliant... NOT! Unlike Guild Wars the online portion is going to broken with this silly sub system.

Will the single player option be online as well? I'm confused now. Will it be like Diablo where you can play the single player campaign by yourself and if you wanted you could go online or is it a completely online game?

Something which might concern us South Africans with our low bandwith and etc. There's no option in the game for LAN. The developers took it out decided it was safer to just use internet multiplayer options. And from the forums it seems there will be two types of online play the subscription and free. But the sub guys get new content.

For R70 per month you get laggy play unless you join a local online host. Maybe it will be worth it?

I have been drooling over this game since it was announced more than 2 years ago. The developers behind this also worked on Diablo 2... I for one will be paying the subscription with a smile.

You know, even though this is really sucky and pleb like, think about Diablo2. People never needed new content or 'special modes' to enjoy the game. I played it sooo much online, I had a 93 sorc at one stage :)

I just think if you have fun playing without paying then its not so bad after all.
Of course new content is always a bonus of note... R70 a month isnt too bad either right? Thats like less then 20 a week

Hosting their servers and running a support systems costs a lot of money, I'm not even sure how Guildwars does this for free.

Most big multi-player online games cost money, the fact that this one has a free option doesn't sound bad at all imo.

The actual game I'd like to see... in DX10 mode of course, which is why I need a new card :(

I am more worried about the lag SA players might encounter whilst playing the game seeing its a FPS this time around. Thus my worry, R70 a month for a good fun game if you put your mind ( & money ) into it, but seeing our broadband is a joke it might just make it miserable.

Hope i am wrong. :)

true true, dont know how much a difference an unshaped account will help in the case..

But no ways in hell im gonna spend the extra money just to get one of those accounts if they do

Any ETA for this game?

June 15th as per the BT Games website @ R355 on preorder.

This isn't suppose to be a mmo so hence this subscription fee is EA and Flagship being greedy. I have played many multiplayer online games can't remember paying a sub for any of them. Now if it was a mmo then fair enough but this was touted as a single player and multiplayer game not mmo.
