Hi all,

well that's basically what I've been doing since yesterday ... With the 1st lightning of Jhb's lightning storm, my phone died ... My ADSL is still running perfectly .. however the phones are dead ...

I have changed the filters to brand new ones - no luck ...
I have changed to new handsets - no luck ...

I have tried phoning telkom but so far I have been getting the runaround and it looks like I'll be without a voice phone for the next week .. maybe 2 ...

Has anybody had this before, that the ADSL is fine but line is gone ... what did you do ?

Oh yes .. I forgot .. I DO have surge protectors, they are fine .. (little light is still on) ... I have however tried bypassing them to see if that's the problem but still no luck ...

i was at a customer today whos hub fried but only half ADSL would not come up on any port at all ... it is strange what a bit of static can do .. ps internet was down but phone ok ..
 
I called telskum AGAIN and this time they owned up that they have a fault on the line .. so I should have a techie looking at it just in time for Christmas ... 2009

ok .. I called again and they said that it should be fixed withing 5-10 days .. and I DID ask if I could get credit for the downtime ... the woman wend silent for a while then said that unfortunatelly it is not telkom policy to give credit ....
