I love how this thread got woken up by a spammers
This will cause an aspirin burn in the mouth which often just compounds the pain. Drink it like you do for any other pain, otherwise get some clove oil from the chemist and some cotton balls. Soak the pellet in the clove oil and bite on it.
Once again, please don't leave aspirin in the mouth to just dissolve against the tooth.

Anyway this sounds suspiciously like a wisdom tooth problem. The OP probably had to have it removed. AFAIK they usually perform root canals on the adjacent tooth that the wisdom tooth grows into,
I beg to differ, had root canal 3 yrs ago, was the most excruciating pain I have ever had, well besides my lumbar punctureRoot canals aren't that bad any more. They used to be something to really fear, but at the right dentist, you probably won't feel a lot of pain.
This thread was the death of me. On Thursday, I think, after reading this thread I started suffering from toothache from a broken tooth in the back of my mouth. I could only find 1 panado in the house and that did ziltch. It was so bad that I was feeling ill and in so much pain I could not sleep. We found GR Toothache Drops which did not work. I also gargled with vinegar/salt and warm water. I think it was Friday morning when my wife said I must try a Voltaren tablet and after a few hours if pain I was surprised to see it work. The pain was gone for over 3 hours and when it came back I took another one and yes it worked. Yesterday we got panado and disprin and with 2 Voltaren it worked like magic. The swelling came up but the tooth was not sore at all. The pain stayed away for hours and in the early morning hours when I felt a slight throbbing i took the same dose of pills and there is no pain.
Wayne if there is a swelling then you may have an abscess developing which can be quite bad. I would really consider it having looked at by someone before it develops into something worse.
@Marine: it honestly depends from person to person. Molar teeth tend to be Worse if there is infection present.
I do suspect an abscess. I had one on the left of my mouth and my face swelled up huge on that side I thought I was twins but it went away after a week.
It never just "goes away". It's probably still there breaking down bone waiting for a nice opportunity to kick your ass when your immune system takes a bit of a hammering again. I would honestly just go have it checked out Wayne. You don't want to be sorry later when it has progressed to something worse.
