Dear All

Have any South Africans used to helminthic therapy to treat autoimmune disorders like asthma or IBS?
Helminths are parasites. I'm particularly interested in the hookworm species Necator Americanus.

I don't have access to any worms myself, but I would like to know if anyone is interested in this form of therapy.

If you are please don't hesitate to contact me.

Seems to be some real science behind this and some solid evidence pointing to it actually working.

I'm still skeptical but the anecdotal evidence is being backed up with research by the looks of some of the pubmed articles on it...

What? how does a worm treat asthma ?
Nobody knows how. But it works. For allergies that is...no idea about IBS.

Its kinda a niche treatment because of the ickiness factor, but afaik its pretty reliable (for some food allergies).

IBS isn't properly understood in itself so who knows.

It is *believed* that the worms someone modify the immune system to prevent the immune system from attacking them...and this in turn subdues the immune system enough. Kinda like a mozi injecting a painkiller type substance to prevent you from noticing the bite. All wild speculation though...as I said nobody knows.

The correct auto-immine response is learned by exposure to the worms, according to wiki. The lack of exposure to benign antigens in childhood might be one of the causes of inflammation-related auto-immine disease. Exposure to these antigens can help with T regulator cell development to bring about the correct auto-immune response. This is how I understand it. Well, practically paraphrased wiki there but it makes sense. Digging into this more now - if it can help with my asthma then bring on those slimy little buggers...

I've been in contact to purchase my dose of 50 hookworm.
It's going to cost me R25000 :(
I'm so impressed with the success stories I've read that I believe in it. Lets hope it works.

Has anyone else tried sourcing the worms?

If you guys are interested in auto-immune disorders and unconventional treatments, there seems to be quite a lot of anecdotal evidence in that regard and cannabis oil...

Seems slightly more palatable than hookworms... :D

*edit*

I'll be treating two fibromyalgia patients in a while, curious to see how it goes...

That's interesting.
Keep us posted.

What compound/substance in the oil provides the benefit?

Hi there, I'd like to know if you went through with this treatment? I've read up on it a lot and also want to try it, and am hoping to find a local source for the worms.

Who would have thought that penicillin could be derived from a mould/fungi?

Biologist ? mould prey on bacteria the trick is isolating the active and making bioavailable and non-toxic also penicillin was isolated LONG AGO. Worms for asthma seems like leech therapy :/

At R500 per worm you gotta wonder who the leech is
