Help: 3G Modems

Hello there,

I am a noob with 3G modems. I have a few questions with which I hope you guys can help.

1. What modem is it that looks like a flash drive that supports 7.2 mbps?

2. Is the 3G router a good choice? Am I right when I say that it is like a ADSL router that is essentially a 3G modem in which you can plug an Xbox and a PC?

3. Does an external antenna really help that much? I get 2 bars reception without an antenna.

4. If you answered yes to (3), which modems support external antenna?

5. Which is the best modem you get for free from Vodacom if you get a 3G contract from them? Or can you only choose from one modem?

If this thread pisses you off please PM me and swear at me etc. I would like to keep the thread clean. Thanks to the people who can give an informed answer.

K3715 supports 7.2 & the K3520...but remember, u will not be able to utilize these speeds without a "advanced" data bundle, which is more expensive than your standard data bundles. Also, it has been pointed out many times now that the main reason why you take the advanced bundle should be for the same OOB rate as the in bundle rate, and not the 7.2.

Try check your 3G speeds before you buy the router/modem.
