Hi, I've been really confused by my iPhone 3gs GPS "ability" (It's a "New" 2nd hand phone)
When I run any GPS related app it won't work unless I'm connected to a wireless network and the internet
I understand why Google maps would not work since it updates "on the fly" and needs an Internet connection to do so.
I can't understand why I need the internet when I have pre-loaded maps or even an app that only records GPS positioning...
I'm using apps such as "Tom Tom SA", "Distance" and "Mobile Maps Europe" (I was away recently and as you can imagine this "error" rendered the app useless!)
Basically what happens is that it says "waiting for valid gps signal" and never gets further, as soon as I connect to a wireless (not edge or 3g) it works??
PS: I'm able to download email on the Edge Connection so I know I am able to access the internet without being connected to a wireless router (The phone always defaults to Ege for some stupid reason!) but still the app won't work...
Obviously this is pointless... sorry about the long post but I'd really appreciate any input... I'm a stickler for getting things to work the way they are supposed to
Thanks!
Greg.
