I've got a Vodafone R250 router with a Telkom Mobile Sim on the 10 gig package - Wifi works perfectly.

I connect it to my Samsung Smart tv without any hassles, but each time I power off the tv I have to go through the whole connection with password ect.. again.

So I was thinking to use a Wlan cable, which will obviously keep the tv connected.

QUESTION : What device do I need to convert the Wifi signal to a WLAN cable that can be plugged into the tv?

You'll want a router with a 3G failover - those will have a couple of LAN ports to plug the TV into.

I'm not sure about the vodafone router, but it sounds like it doesn't have any open lan ports? My Samsung TV only comes with lan ports with an option to buy an additional wifi device to connect to my router. You make it sound like your TV has built in wifi, which I haven't seen yet.

Powering off the TV and losing connection probably means the TV doesn't save the settings, if your device does have a lan port, plug it in directly. otherwise I'd suggest investing in a proper router with 3G failover as suggested

What your'e looking for is a Wireless Bridge - it "bridges" a wired LAN with a Wireless LAN. A cheap option would be the D-link DAP-1360, slightly more would be the Cisco Linksys RE1000 or newer version.

Both have the added benefit of repeating/boosting WiFi signal at the same time and both are very easy to set up, especially if you're familiar with routers/networking devices web interfaces.

I would suggest you get a Huawei B593 (or Huawei B683 - 3G Only), that way you will have your 4 LAN ports (solves your LAN connection to Smart TV issue), and you can benefit from LTE if you're in coverage (it will use 3G if you're not in LTE coverage).

The added benefit of these routers versus a dongle is the receive sensitivity is much higher i.e. better chance of getting good reception even when you move the device more towards the centre of the house where the TV might be chilling.

I've got a little Netgear device (can't for the life of me recall the name of it :o) that I connect to my Bluray player using an ethernet cable. This connects to my wifi router. The idea of this device is to enable wifi connections to devices that only have ethernet. I'll come back to this post when I remember what it's called. Dammit, it's been a long day :o

EDIT: This is it: http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.ph...alternatives-to-wifi-wireless-networks.html/2
