If I get a solar system with 1 battery and later on decide I need another will i be able to add another 1 or will I need to buy 2 so that they are the same age.

Don't tell me you are still considering installing a lead acid battery.

You can pair an old one with a new one in parralel

The one with the highest potential will simply supply most of the amps

I would not use old and new in a series config though that is a recipe for disaster

Edit: Some will say no

Have seen guys selling their old lithium batteries because some "specialist" told them they can't mix old and new

But that is just old myths that don't apply imo
