It's got nothing to do with sexism.

It's an instinctive attempt at weighing up my odds of succeeding in a given situation. Whether I act on it is another thing altogether, but if there was a chance I got AIDS when pink-haired girl raped me - I'd weigh up the odds of me overpowering her and consider the odds somewhat worth acting on.

I won't grab a gun from most people.
But a 12y/o kid?
It's something I'd consider when weighed against the other outcomes.

Well you can also look at genetics, meaning males have the hunting urge thus the killing comes easier than woman that has the nurturing urge.

lets take a very simple example men will kill a spider in a heartbeat right where a woman (and yes I am just generalizing here) will not be able to either because they feel sorry for it or to scared to try to kill it.

So if I have to take my chances I will rather try to disarm a woman before I disarm a man.
