Hi Guys,

Ok first off please don't shoot me if this has been answered before,

I have a DataPro Uncapped 512K Line and have always played on free servers, the little time I did actually get to play.

I have decided to go the retail route and actually buy the game and all that goes with it, however I am stuck trying to make a decision between US and EU servers.

For my connection what would you guys recommend for the lowest latency, I hate PvP incidents where you have to check the combat log to see what/who killed you.

Anyhow would really appreciate your input as I am pretty new at this.

i only say EU because i am on EU :P sorry i cant give u a answer other then what i prefer, not because of latency :D

I'm not sure, but I am hoping to know which is best on Latency as I would rather play on the faster connections.

I am sure there are enough people on both servers to make it entertaining.

I got bored on the free servers as you lvl way to quickly and most of the quests were always bugged which kinda kills the story of the game for those who actually follow ;)

Don't most South Africans play EU?

/shrug but there is alot of saffa players on my realm horde side that i know. But you should pick where ever u think u will be happy :) wish i could tell you EU or US, only ever played on EU so canot comment on US. all i can say is u wont be dissapointed if u pick EU

Do you ever have latency issues, I normally get a K*K latency on my uncapped connection.

PS. Is there a battlechest available with the original WOW and both expansions or shoud I just buy the 3 loose (sorry off subject)

Rather play on EU dude regardless of latency. Im sure it will pretty much be the same. US time zone = ***. If you wanan start raiding at 2am - 6 am then go US, else i would highly recommend EU

There is a guild or two US side that are south african and raid during SA time, so don't discount US entirely. Only problem is your choices are limited, and if you don't fit in or whatever, you're stuck.

Anyways I'll pimp my realm, Lightbringer, coz it's the only EU realm I know of that has both a healthy South African Horde (Prophecy) AND Alliance (Braaivleis) presence.

Other realms i know of with locals
-Laughing Skull (FoA lives there, probably the top EU raid guild, Horde)
-Karazhan (Death by TRay, the other top EU raid guild, also Horde iirc)
-Sylvanus (think theres some SA Ally people there, bloody alliance, /spit)
-Twilight's Hammer (used to be THE SA realm, but a lot of people left to other servers, i think there's still a couple SA people there in Pap En Vleis or w.e, also mostly Horde)

At the current prices the 2 games inividually is cheaper than the battlechest(BT Games and Take 2). As far as I know the 2nd expansion isn't part of the battle chest yet.

There are 2 reason for EU.

1. Their timezone is roughly the same as SA, so you get to pug a lot easier and raid easier with EU guilds, though this was more true before the new x-realm LFG was introduced
2. Latency - SAT3 goes to London 1st, but also EU servers are physically closer to SA than the US ones, especially when you look at the route your packets are going to follow

Simple as that.

The only reason to play on US

1. Everyone (well 99.999%) people can speak proper english as opposed to the EU player's broken English or fact that they can't even speak it, there are EU players that can speak it just fine however

I raided on US servers pre TBC. Horrible, unless its 100% SA guild. You end up out of the main loop of your guilds events which is really bad. Ended up with a guild-within-a-guild but always short of raiders. Its really not worth investing the time to develop a raiding character under those conditions because you will end up rerolling EU.

as a Saffa i am sure your use to broken english by now :D

I play US.
Have been since release.
Dont plan to change... EVER.

First and foremost the raiding times dont bother me, as i work over the internet to international clients anyway, most of which (85%+) are US based.
My sleeping routine has turned to their timezone ages ago already.
But it could be a huge factor for the average saffa.

But most importantly...

I wouldn't survive one hour in a guild with even 2 of them in it.

EU for the timezones and the variety of people who play. Dutch, German, Norweigan, Danish, etc.

I'd stab myself in the eye if I had to play with arrogant US guys all the time.

I feel the same except for me it is the Americans. Had a few of them on the EU servers and they lived up to their reputation. We have a few Europeans in our guild and everybody gets along with 99% of them.

There's always that 1% though. I'm sure you know who I'm referring to. ;P

Funny though, my time on US I never really had any problems with the yanks. Could be the timezone difference so I rarely ever pugged with many. There were a couple of US guys in the guild when I was there and they were mostly awesome, friendly people. /shrug. I guess it depends on the guild, because the eurofags in ours are great, but many, many of the morons i've pugged with are absolutely the worst of the freakin worst. Rude, impatient children who can't string together a single intelligible sentence, almost to the letter.
