Help composing scene

Small aperture (high f number, say f22), fast shutter speed and a low powered flash (with or without snoot). Camera would need to be in M (manual). Fire away! You can also position the flash to the side of the subject which is good fun for those portaits where the person looks like they are coming out of the darkness with only half a face. :D

So I gave this a try and got this.

Nikon D3100
Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens
Remote Nikon SB-700 flash set to manual 1/64

Shutter 1/200
f/8
ISO100

EDIT: don't know why it's so blocky... might be the picture upload?

f/22! I don't think anything narrower than f/8, if that.

Thanks guys!
My first DSLR has been ordered from ORMS (650D kit + 430EX II) so I'm looking forward to playing around with light.

The prices of snoots and grids is insane though. I will make my own if I need to but finding black drinking straws is not so easy.

I just cut up a cardboard box and taped it to the flash to get the shot I posted earlier
