Do any of you use this router, or know how to configure it to work in bridge mode?
As i'm sure you know, the netgear router hold all the connection info and so the connection can only be activated or disabled from the router itself.

What i'm looking to do is connect from each computer on my network individually using windows pppoe. The reason being is that having more than one ADSL account (one capped and the other not), i constantly have to switch connections which is a hassle if you have to log onto the router every time.

I beleive that what i need to do is configure the router to work in bridge mode (correct me if i'm wrong) but have not managed to find any info on the website.

Thanks

Yeah that's what i mean... modem mode.

That sucks that it can't do that. Is that because of the 4 port ethernet or what? Do you know?

Actually, are you sure about this? I see on the website it's advertised as "DG834G - 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Firewall Router"

I have one, I have not seen anything in the user manual that would suggest you can use the modem in such a manor. But if you search the forum I remember a post listing a hack site for this particular modem. It might have a way of implementing what you want in it. OMG my brain is working left to right this morning

Most likely the 4 port ethernet switch is not connected to the ADSL WAN port which is internally handled by the router firmware.

Ive been using the Netgear DG range of ADSL whatsits for quite a while. Whilst turning it from a router to a modem is an interesting option I did not know about, whats the point of disabling all its functions (firewalling, routing, etc etc) and making it a simple PPPOE modem?

Good point you have there ... I might as well have gotten a cheap no name brand USB DSL modem for R200 :).
