Help connecting helkom cable

Helkom cabe to my house checking out slow response. The left saying i need to replace the cable myslef and refuse to come back. Today i wanted to close the cover these clowns left open and i see there are only 2 connected wires? Is that right?

The dsl line and the line coming from wall have different colors.


Dsl line coming from router has

White connected to orange
Purple not connected
Dark blue connected to dark blue
Light blue not connected

Coming from wall socket have
Brown
Light green not connected

Any advise?

normally it is the blue and white wire.
 
Yes, only two one pair is used. The others are for redundancy, in the event that one pair breaks somewhere.

Telkom techies can use any pair, and as such there's no specific one. These two wires are connected to the DSU.
If you connection event remotely works, the connection is fine. It's usually corrosion.
 
you need to get the polarity right.its 40v DC about if I remember correct.Good luck.see if you cant get existing phoneline instalation and measure it with multimeter.some equipment has a switch where you can select weather inner or outer connection on plug is used.

I modified telephone line 5+ years ago with single strand 2 core cable.to extend it to my ADSL router.Just don't tell telkom.
