I need some help, I've set up XP Home using the Broadband "Username & Password" After trying to connect it freezes Mouse KBD and need a reboot.
LAN with 7 PC's is working ISP is Telkom other machines work and connect
to Telkom ADSL never more then 2 PC's are connected. So, it cannot be the Hardware since the Lan works another XP machine on the same connection also works. It can then only be a Software problem, but it's the first time it happened to me the system is preinstalled from the supplier ?
Anybody out has got a solution or experienced a similiar problem.?

catch some breath dude. what modem/router do you use?

im a bit confused here because if yoursetting up a connection that means you dont have a router correct?

if you have a router you should not be setting a connection in win xp as its all done through the router

so give a little more info
router/usb modem?
how many ports is the router

No Problem with Router or Modem

Thanx but I know that I've setup a broadband dial up the router is configured as a bridge , since 7 Computers are on the LAN and the ISP Premium can have 4 concurrent connection . So nothing is wrong on the router or Modem site it is a Telkom 4 Port Router / Modem think Billion 5100 but the computer is freezing during the Username - Password authentication. So other PC's are working on the connection. Except this new one I've setup a few using XP also Me and W98 with dialup. XP has the easiest setup for it that is why I can' Understand it. Maybe a reeinstall of XP will do. Anyhow thank you for the

ya what i would do it get a hub run the internet though the router but thats me

i prefer having 7 computers running thourhg a router linked hub

dont see the point of 4 connections if the computer are in a 20m radius of each other

just me i guess :)
