I would like to be able to turn a heater (connected to a smart plug) on and off, as the temperature drops below and above certain thresholds. I have a Xiaomi Mi Tempterature Monitor that I have had for a while, but I can't seem to get it to connect to either the Tuya Smartlife app, or IFTTT. It is a bluetooth only thermometer as far as I am aware.

Is it possible to use it for this purpose? If not, what else do you recommend?

I don't know the Xiaomi equipment that well... If it's bluetooth only, it would need to connect to some bluetooth gateway (Like your phone) in order to talk with a backend like IFTTT..

I would personally recommend using something like the Sonoff TH16 (https://sonoff.tech/product/diy-smart-switch/th10-th16/) with the temperature sensor. It will connect to your wifi and then either use the Sonoff EWeLink app, or Home-Assistant if you are running that.

Just make sure how many amps you want to switch...
