Hi. I want to lodge a complaint with a statutory body against VA. What are my options?

Virgin Active is like Hotel California...you can check in but you can't check out.

You want to complain to a statutory body that you didn't get a body like a statue?

I've jumped through all their hoops but they still continue to harass me...

I dont believe their is a ombudsman/statutory type group for gyms.

Try complaining on social media, facebook, twitter etc

What's the problem?
I called them to cancel my contract. I requested written confirmation that my contract is cancelled and they sent it. Letter is dated July 2013.

They call me immediately after to offer me 3 months free, I say no thanks.

Today I get an email stating I owe R1020.

Best way to deal with it, is to go post on hellopeter. They will very quickly get someone to sort out your issue. It is what I did. I have no time to sit in a queue to their callcenter, far easier to just complain on hellopeter, and then they phone you to sort it out.

The South African National Consumer Protection Act (CPA) came into effect on 1 April 2011. The Act is aimed at promoting fairness, openness and good business practice between the suppliers of goods or services and consumers of such goods and services. The Act only applies to contracts signed after 1 April, and won't affect anything signed before then. All suppliers of goods and services need to comply with the Act.

Actually, you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said the night man,
"We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! "

Take your SO into the paraplegic toilets, and slip her the salami.... Watch out for the rape claim though.
