I hate "flip book" catalogues. They're slow, low res, unproductive, flashy (pun intended) **** of the worst kind. All I want is a damn PDF of the ACDC catalogue, but the file on their CD is a ****ing flip book application.

How do I extract the content so that I can browse it in a civilised way, on Adobe Reader?

Thanks.

(No, the PDFs on their website won't work. They're low res and aren't even the complete catalogue.)

Which CD?

Old Maiden CD (think it was Fear of the Dark) had same and it was also fkn flash!

Can you zoom up on the pages or view it full screen? You could take a screencap of each page and then print those as a single pdf file.

Does the CD have only the one file on it? Is there a (maybe hidden) folder, which may contain the assets?

Otherwise you may need to decompile, you could try a trial version of Buraks flash decompiler, which I recall can extract the assets.

Also check the executables Detail tab it might tell you what they used to author it, then you can try Google "authoring package name extract" etc

If the compiled item is already low res, that would probably be because the assets themselves are low res so you may be doomed to the low res PDF version anyways.

It has a print option that will do all pages at high resolution, has anyone tried passing that to a pdf printer?

trying it now.

Taking forever to process all 579 pages but if it works then awesome and thank you :)

OK, I can do it on my Mac as we can print to PDF. So, I select printer and click hires and print all pages and then it asks which printer and I say Save to PDF.

Can the window .prn format be used, for example? Dunno how windows does this type of thing...

It's a bit useless as everything is jpg so you can't search the pdf.

I couldn't come right either. The two PDF printers I tried didn't do all the pages, and like you say, they're not searchable. The SWF decompiler couldn't even see inside the Flash.
