Help finding a game

Checking to see if scrapland is the correct answer - TJ Im going off friends info - if scrapland is wrong I'll ask more questions

in space on a planet... as a robot... like WAL-E. Scrapland is played on multiple planets as a pilot.
and you go around collecting ore and stuff to build bigger structures - No mining..
and eventually other droids to help you - Lots of other Droids and Aliens.
i think you build the base up for humans that come later - No bases.

I played the game, finished it multiple times. You have to even buy new space ships and fly to new planets and enter flying races.
In no way do you mine or build anything.

You play as a robot that transforms into lots of different things. One of which is a plane/ship type thing, yes but your main form is this apparently. It's the closest to the Wall-E game I could find.
 
You're still not a pilot, you are the robot and you never leave the one planet/asteroid.

Let's just wait for OP to see if it's the right game or not.

Edit: Actually, the more I read the OP's descriptions, the less convinced I am that this is it. But theres nothing else that matches....

Nope that's not it. I've played the game he mentioned before. But this was way too long ago to remember enough for me to give much info :o
 
Nope, that's an RTS, not 3rd person. Also too old...
 
As per friend

and on a deserted planet that you have to build things
oh yeah
you could fly a bit
like with a bar until it ran out
hold crt or something
and it runs out then you fall down

you leave earth in a ship that lands and you're a little robot in charge of taking things and building certain things, and then those things build robots which help you and you build a base eventually

that's all i know
it was a demo
so only one level

Apparently it looks almost identical to scrapland

While we're on this topic...

I played a game when i was very young, you were basically a ship inside your own computer trying to clean up a virus that continued to spread. You could fly into actual folders on your PC and if they had pictures, the pictures would show up on the wall, and you had to collect system files as resources.

I can't seem to google it, I thought it was called Virus but it turns out it's not. Any clue? :p

Stop hijacking my thread but talking about that - around 1996ish I played a game. 2d space sim, you had to mine from planets. You could also disease planets to kill enemy populations. Remember very little of it - but was awesome
