Hey peeps,

Can someone point me to a reasonably priced (R600 or so) headphones for PC. Must have a mic.

It is my sons birthday on Friday and I would like to replace his headphones with something decent. Just noticed that his current ones have taken a bit of a knock.
They must be over ear (NOT on ear) and have a mic.

Any ideas where I can get a set QUICKLY that meets the above requirements?

USB or mini Jack?

I've been using
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/lifechat-lx-3000
from Incredible connection....They should be round R300 & last time I checked incredible's price was reasonable.

You could prob get something better with the R600 budget though.

USB or mini jack. His current set is mini jack, but it don't matter.

That set looks quite decent for it's price. Will check them out. Thanks dude.
I don't necessarily want to spend R600 on them. I just don't want to go above that amount. If I can get for cheaper - but still good quality - then he scores. I have a budget of R2k for his gifts. He is getting a new soccer ball, a new headset, and the balance going to MS Points for his XBox and Steam Wallet for his PC. He is constantly asking me to buy games on either of the above (mostly say no) so a voucher on each platform will get him really amped :)

They've served me well - dropped them quite a few times too.

First point of failure is the fake leather that covers the ear things - becomes brittle after about a year. Should easily be good enough though.

Can't see them on incredible's site right now though...

I like the "dropped them quite a few times too" part. Being 9, he is prone to being a bit careless with his stuff still.

I am going to pop into Incredible at Greenstone tomorrow and see if they have any. If not, I am sure they will have something similar.

A friend got these Oblanc headphones from Esquire for ~R341 a few months ago and they are (imo) absolutely lovely. Have used them a few times for skype and such and had no complaints.

They were still that price in May but something went wrong as they are now priced at ~R455. :(

The life Chat one is listed here: Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 - R300 + R80 (shipping) = R380

Or maybe you could look at one of the following?

SteelSeries 5H V2 White stereo headset - R459 + R80 (shipping) = R539

Genius Mordax - R512 + R80 (shipping) = R592

Corsair Raptor H5 5.1 - R576 + R80 (shipping) = R656

Creative Sound Blaster Tactic3D Alpha - R580 + R80 (shipping = R660

Otherwise you don't have to have them courier it to you, you can pick it up from them so you won't have to pay for the shipping cost, this is their address:

I wanted to go for the Creative ones because they can be used on both XBox360 and his PC, but Rebeltech need a day to get the stock and another day to deliver. Rules them out ):

Went to Incredible Connection now. Zilch in the PC range unless you want on ear.
Then off to BT Games. Spoke to a young guy there who plays PC a lot and he recommended the Ex-O5 Military Style headset. Says the sound quality of them was equal to the Razor 35's (or something like that) that he had and he broke. They were going for R599 so within my budget.
At checkout he says to me he may have one left in the back from a promotion they were running a while back - and they are cheaper. He goes to the back and returns with the one he had left. Tells me the promotion prices is R399 and includes Medal Of Honor Warfighter for Xbox. BONUS. Saved R200 and got a free game with it.

These cans work will work on both his PC and Xbox, and also comes with an adapter for the voice comms through the controller.
