Help! Home Assistant on NUC

Just as fyi, all the vm's are running the server version and not the desktop version. Desktop version needs more resources. Also using pure Debian based os. Ubuntu is based on Debian, so most of the tutorials for ubuntu works with Debian.

Sorry, assumed SSD. Is it a flash drive you want to use to boot from? I think I can make it out in the picture. Doesn't look like the NUC is picking it up.
 
Another thing, did you copy the image to the flash drive or use Balena Etcher?

SSD is correct. It is seen by my main PC (Windows) when attached with a drive enclosure.

Maybe the drive enclosure is not compatible with the NUC. Try flashing the image with Balena (copying will not work) to a flash drive and see if it gets picked up.

Sorry, to clarify: I removed the SSD from the NUC and placed it in a drive enclosure. I then attached that to my Windows PC in order to flash the drive. After that, the SSD was placed back into the NUC.

So it might be that it is not connected correctly or gone faulty, the NUC should pick it up as a device no matter what is on it.

When I put the SSD back into the USB drive enclosure it appears like this in Disk Management (Disk 2, 8 partitions):20220107_115148.jpg

That is the partitioning that HA has created on the SSD so we know that the flashing has worked and the drive is working. It should appear as a drive in the BIOS of the NUC when you replace it, if it doesn't then there may be a hardware fault on the NUC.
 
Right, so I reseated all connections and now I see the drive in the BIOS. Doesn't boot HA though, I get a message, "Image Authorisation Fail. System cannot boot to this device due to a security violation".

Edit: Disabled secure boot and code is now running. :)
