Hi:
Please help me with these problem. Which page in the setting should I go and what to set in that page? If I am using a router (telkom)?

With Telkom ADSL, is the IP address of the router changing every certain period of time?

How can I view the IP address assigned dynamicly by the DHCP server to the router?

Thanx a lot.

Don't have a Macaroni router - but check all the pages - you are looking for a page where at the minimum you will have a port and a space for a (local) IP.

With Telkom ADSL, is the IP address of the router changing every certain period of time?

Yes, all ADSL accounts do - it is not router specific. It will change when: You reboot the modem or switch it off, or when Telkom decides (should be every 24 hours, but I find it can stay the same for weeks on end, provided you do not reboot it).

How can I view the IP address assigned dynamicly by the DHCP server to the router?

go to checkip.com - it will tell you your ip. Also, check out www.dynalias.net (or is it .com - i forget :) ).

If you tell us what you want to accomplish, we may be able to help more.

i seem to be getting more joy out of Shareaza than Emule.
When i do a test with Emule - i get this :

Starting TCP connection test...
TCP test failed! UDP test will not be performed.

Connection test finished.

Results in detail:

* TCP connection test failed.
It was not possible, to establish a TCP connection to your eMule.
Other users will only be able to connect to you with the help of a server, resulting in a low ID for you. While eMule still works, this will give you several disadvantages. Therfore it is highly recommended to solve this problem.

How to resolve port problems... Something is interfering with your network communications. There are two main reasons for this:

* If you are using a firewall, ensure that your firwall don't block the required ports! You might need to set a rule to allow the ports to be available.
* If you use a router, make sure that your router forwards the required ports to your local IP!

...

I firewall isnt blocking emule... even with it off it remains the same.
I don't have a router, I'm using one of them Stupid USB Pots Modems...

Clubbe - i think you have the same problem.

Anybody - Any suggestions ???

Emule Port Shaping

As you know or don't...

All traffic for SAIX ADSL is fed thru a transparent Proxy server / Firewall... This is where they apply the port shaping and kill apps like Emule only port 80 443 & 20 21 is left alone the rest slowed (Shaping) down by the server..

Yep, and I think (not sure) that that is why the TCP UDP tests fail on eMule - they are being done against the proxy ip address, and not your own. (Stupidity on the part of eMule if this is so).

Thank You !!

Looks good, just beware - the ip address it gave for my external ip was the Telkom proxy and not my ip.
