Hi, bought a 9900 on Voda (Weekender Contract) this morning.

Came home, excitedly popped in the sim and the phone booted, went in to the OS and then rebooted and rebooted and rebooted.

Will they treat as an OBF because its a #fail!

Don't you have 7 days to exchange, whereafter it'll be sent for assessment and repair? Don't quote me on that, but I believe that's the standard SA cellphone provider policy...

You can use the opportunity to get a real phone. :p

thats why u should AWAYS open the box in the shop & make them start up the phone, make a call, if your sim is active.
 
Let them exchange it for another one. And I agree, switch the phone on in the shop.

When you get hom upgrade the firmware to 7.1 and believe me, you will enjoy the 9900 because its a awesome phone.

Don't worry about the people that always have something bad to say about Blackberry. There are a reason why they always have to reply on a BB thread. Lol
 
Yes...it should be treated as a OBF. Make sure to get the phone back to the store ASAP with the box, all contents that came with it and the phone. Also take your till slip with you as this will be required. OBF policy states that the phone will be exchanged with the same make and model...unless the phone has been discontinued and no more stock can be sourced...then you will be allowed to choose another make and model of the same value. Should the selected phone be of a higher value you should be allowed to pay in the difference.

The store might send it to Vodacare first to see that they will approve it as a OBF and that there is no user damage to the phone.

Does 7.1 significantly improve batt life? How does 7.1 compare to batt life of the 9780?

7.1 still has issues, font doesn't smooth out when scrolling, no significant change in battery. Mine froze bad today, rebooted itself.

@op just curious how much did you payin?
 
Hi Mate,

No probs :). Paying 299 on Weekender. Apparently that excludes BIS - which I didn't want as I have an existing contract with BIS. Cell C currently have the best deal through Nashua (Northgate seems not to stock any decent phones but will order for you) at R329 on Allweek 100. Anyways, Voda had stock, so was sorted.
