Just found this in the garden.. I nearly walked into it.

Jeezus, shoot it with a shotgun...

I had an orb weaver fall on me or attack me once i bumped into a line of web and i brushed this random thing off my shoulder then looked at what it was and then ran away terrified. you wont believe how fast those things can be when they off their webs .... :(

later went back to show everyone where I got jumped by a spider it had babies (little grey ones) in this huge web. I dont know if it was a golden orb weaver just assumed from its huge size and the fact that its web spanned across meters. The mother wasnt in the web anymore dont know what happened to it

now im afraid of spiders lol

Not a fan of any creepy crawlies, so had a shiver or two looking at the pics.

Noordhoek is filled with those Golden Orb Spiders. Their webs are quite interesting to see (gold/yellow) and rather huge. Last time I was in the area there was probably three or four in every single tree that I saw.

Female golden orb web - nephila species. Beautiful spiders. My son loves them. Pretty much harmless though they look impressive.

Do yourself a favour - tug on the guide threads of it's web... the big yellow ones... they are incredibly thick.

Holy sht, that's the most ugly terrifying thing i have ever seen in my whole life.

True. Spider doesn't seem to mind him though

What would you do if you turned your head and that thing came crawling up your arm?, will you hit it, try getting out you tshirt, start rolling around on the grass? i think I'll give one gilry shriek and pass out.

Scream like the village madman and run around crying while taking my shirt off not caring if anybody notices the damp spots on my trousers.

sorry, bit of a hijack.

Any idea what this is?

Sorry for the bad photos.

you did say you need info....

that looks like a rain spider.
catch it with an empty icecream tub and release outside.
if you are allergic, and get bitten, the worste is a 2-3day headache.

they catch many other unwanteds, so I accept them around.

Aren't the legs too short (or body too big) for rain spider? I grew up with the fekkers trying to kill me and the one in the photo looks too "bulky".
