Hi,

I'm trying to install an IDE drive into my PC along with the existing SATA drive.

I have 2x DVD burners connected to the single IDE channel on my motherboard (it only has 1 IDE connecter), so I'm trying to unplug one of the DVD burners power+IDE cables, but the power cable just won't come out.

Can I just leave the power cable in there and unplug the IDE cable?

You can, but it usually will come out if you wiggle the connector from side to side whilst pulling it out.

Why not just get an external USB enclosure then?

+1. It'll be much much easier. Set it to cable select and you're away.

SATA and IDE drives don't like being in the same machine at the same time.

those power cables stick like a mofo sometimes, wiggle it from side to side not up and down and pull harder!!!
it will come out eventually!
A usb enclosure would free up an IDE channel tho...
