I recently replaced my PC because my motherboard gave in and now I am having problems connecting my new PC to the internet. I use a Netgear wireless router and PCI card on the PC. The PC shows a connection to the router (I can see that on the Netgear wizzard), but I get "Limited or no connectivity" errors and cannot access the internet. My laptop still access the internet ok through the same router. When I connect the router to my PC with a network cable, I am able to connect to the internet. I have tried many things, but cannot figure out what is wrong! Please help.

Try THis:

Control Panel
Network connection
Right Click Properties
Click Internet Protocal TCIP then click properties

Click Box: Obtain IP adress automatically
Obtain DNS automaticALLY

OK, I take it the PCI card is a wireless card on the PC.
Did you perhaps enable MAC filtering for wireless devices on the router? The new PCI wireless card has it's own unique MAC address. So if you have MAC filtering enabled on the router, then it won't be allowed to connect.
Just add the new MAC address to the Access Control list on the router in the wireless section.

If it's not a MAC issue, how far is the PC from the router? Maybe the signal is just too weak?

Correct, it is a wireless PCI card, the same one I previously used. I have filtering enabled and manually added the MAC address, but it did not help. I also disabled the filter which made no difference.

This thing really baffles me: The PC connects fine to the internet when connected to the router with a cable, but when wirelessly connected it cannot. The wireless connection is also quite strong (91%).

This normally happens if you mistyped your password for your wireless connection. For some reason XP wil show that you connected to the wireless, but you will have limited connection (meaning none).

Make sure you've got the Wireless security settings right as well as your passphrase and re-setup the wireless on your pc.

Thanks
Problem sorted - I reinstalled PCi and disabled WEP key
