Hi all. Recently I entered the dota scene. I started last week and really enjoyed it compared to console gaming. So Im challenging all techies like myself to help me build a gaming rig that can run dota 2/some other games on it's highest settings with decent fps. Please post your build ideas along with pricing and url.
Thanks

Finished building a machine yesterday.

Got these parts off carb over the last month or two.

1. Intel i7 4970 : R2,500
2. Gigabyte z87x-ud3h : R1,500
3. 12GB Corsair Dominator 2000mHz RAM : R1,300
4. OCZ Vertex 4 (purchased this quite a while ago for R2,400. Cheaper now)
5. Dell 24" screen. : R1,500

No gfx card and no intention of putting one in in the near future. Can get some good deals on these on carb too.

Evetech is running quite a few specials at the moment, never done business with them so maybe others can point you in the right direction when it comes to them :)

I've heard quite a few bad stories about them. I'd definitely stay away.

Is this enough
R15000+-
Already have 32" monitor
Need mouse + keyboard + headset with mic.
Its for dota 2/gta v/counterstrike GO/etc

R15k is plenty.

That should get you a system with a i5, Radeon R9 270x, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD

Will post a full list and links over the weekend, away on a business trip at the moment.

Where are you based?

They are quite expensive normally, so best would be to compare them to someone like WootWare.

I've only bought from them once and I collected from them. Service was ok

Cape town but I must say I am an nvidia fanboy though

I'm agnostic between the two brands, the Radeons currently provide better bang for buck.

The R9 20x is about on par with the GTX760 that will cost you at least R1000 more than the R9 270x

Heck you can even get a R9 285 for less than the GTX760 that's almost on par with the GTX770

Why pay more for worse performance?

That 285 I posted for R2800 performs the same as a R3700 nvidia GFX card.

Rather save that R900 and get a bigger SSD or something.
