That's not weird or eccentric, it's just plain non constructive and annoying.

Anyway, to the topic at hand. Why limit yourself to VW, or a Clio or i20 for that matter? Why more entry level cars? You can get much more.

Please elaborate on insurance being a bitch?

We've shown here time and time again that the maintenance myth is largely untrue.

It seems you're exactly the type the industry relies on in order to keep car sales going.

Wow and I thought we got along in previous threads. Thanx for the input will keep it in mind:)

Importance of Colour in South Africa

South Africa is often referred to as the Rainbow nation – not for the colour of the cars available – but rather for the rich diversity in culture, language and even nature!

It appears that Car insurers in South Africa regard the colour of the insured vehicle as more important than the insurers in the US. There is a definite higher car insurance premium payable in South Africa for cars with a darker colour and cars with metallic paint.

Practical considerations considered include the following:

Which colour of car is involved in accidents the most and provides the most accident claims?
Which colour is the most expensive in the repair process?
Actuaries from car insurers in South Africa believe that the colour of your vehicle does have an effect on your car insurance premium. Statistics show that a darker colour car is more likely to be in an accident due to the fact that it is harder to see. A white or silver car is more visible.

Another factor of how the colour of your car can affect the premium is the cost of repairing the vehicle. Flat non metallic colours are easier to match, with white regarded as the easiest. Metallic colours are sometimes difficult to acquire and difficult to match. One of the more expensive Mercedes-Benz models on the market has the paint described as “designo magno platinum” and has “a highly scratch and dirt-resistant matt finish”. This is available in metallic black, silver, grey and red – and will be more expensive to repair that your ordinary vehicle colours.

Next time a shining and flashy car is passing you – know that the owner is paying a bit more to have that beautiful paint on the car kept on the road!

We do, like tyre and tar!

But our friendship will be on the rocks if you continue with this poor forum etiquette (and quite likely with other people too, who have also made comments). :p

Suggest searching through the motoring forum, myself and others have put time into advising people on new vs second hand.

To end off, the reason people stay away from second hand German/higher end cars, is largely due to fear as a result of ignorance.

I have no desire to be friends with people who judge me on "forum etiquette".

This isnt aimed at you but I find some people on mybb are incapable of being decent human beings. Some individuals here are just nasty. It is a game of who has the biggest wang and a fight for the final say/the most compelling argument. Some people on mybb go out of their way to demonstrate their level of "intellect" and go out of their way to put others down.

There will always be somebody more attractive than myself, more affluent and more intelligent.I will however avoid putting other people down just to prove a point or treat other people like they are inferior. I have learned to take the high road as it is too draining/time consuming having to prove myself each and every time.

Just an observation.

Chill boet, no one judged or put you down. It's simply frustrating having to scroll through screenshots, memes and pictures all the time. It has nothing to do with who you are as a person, but the way in which you conduct yourself which affects everyone.

Do you represent everyone?

I would think twice before getting a silver or grey car.
In bad weather it blends in with scenery making it difficult to see.

No, but I have a very good idea that it frustrates others too. Especially since they've made mention of your doing it.

Please don't take it personally. I've only mentioned it twice to you, and I think you're overreacting. Unless you perhaps understand how it can potentially be non constructive and annoying.
