I'm due for an upgrade in June so it's time for me to start shopping. I'm currently on a TopUp 315s and want to stay in the same price range (would consider paying in if necessary though).

I was thinking BB9900 or Desire Z. I'd like a qwerty keyboard and, ideally, a biggish screen.

Any suggestions?

Best idea is to go onto Vodacom's website to see the best phone you can get on the package. For phones not listed there, there's also Vodacom SP Monthly deals thread

I am finding it difficult to choose between Vodacom and MTN at this stage as I'm on a Business Call and my contract is due for upgrade in 6 days. I can either cancel and take out a new contract with MTN in 4 months time or just upgrade (no Vodacom signal anywhere in my house)

As for your choice, I am attracted to the BlackBerry, but will probably be upgrading to a HTC myself. You could also head over to GSM Arena and check the stats on those two phones.

Thanks for that. I know GSM Arena and Cnet have great reviews - but it's different hearing from somebody who might actually be using a device on a day to day basis (given - the 9900 hasn't been released yet).

On the Vodacom / MTN thing - VC are giving every who upgrades in May free subs for June.

On a different note - why are you on Business Call. As far as contracts go, that's pretty much the least cost effective of the lot. How much do you phone in a month?

BB are for teenagers. Any reason why you need a qwerty Keyboard? I have the Desire HD and the keyboard is fine for me.

I had a HTC S710 before and the Touch Diamond 2 now. I find I really miss the qwerty.

My contract is in my mom's name and the upgrade was done without my knowledge. I was on the weekender s 120 with a Nokia 6300 prior to my Nokia 5800XM and had to be upgraded to Business Call (COMPLETE waste of money) to get the phone so it was done without my knowledge of the predicament I'd be in for the next 2 years.

Well, you can fix that up when you upgrade? (that's if you stay on VC)

+1

If you install the Gingerbread Keyboard on your Desire HD, you have the best of everything.

I'm thinking of sticking with Vodacom but their contracts seem to have very little value of handset for the price you're paying P/M. At this stage I'd much rather get a Galaxy Tab with MTN, 75MBx12 months and R100 airtime x 24 months for R269
