Help me get Vista DVD!

Wait...you consider it a crappy OS...and a waste of money...etc... so why do you want to install it again?
 
I dont have windows xp...but what does it matter!?I don't have the dvd.Im not trying to discuss the pros and cons of vista. I want a 64bit OS and vista is it.
 
One thing which struck myself as curious when reading this post - where's the original DVD copy?

The OP mentioned he's got a (I assume) legal Vista key - so he should be able just to copy any DVD?

Thank goodness Linux does not have this product key issues Windows have :D

Funny thing is ... people who pirate Windows don't really have to worry about keys and copies... it's only people who want to "legally" use Windows that have to jump through all of MS hoops.... strange... punish the ethical ones! :rolleyes:
 
I'm confused because of The_Librarian. I don't have the original disk. It is gone. Yes I can copy any vista ultimate x64 disk and use my cd key. I want any vista ultimate dvd with which I can use my own cd key. I would use linux but I model as a hobby with 3ds max and linux isnt compatible with it. It sounds dodgy, I know, but I would really appreciate it if someone helps me.
 
Out of the goodness of my heart I'd send you my Vista OS with the instructions and CD and all the extra coupons it came with. Unfortunately I took a meat cleaver to it and threw it straight into the bin which was collected on Friday.

This is confusing... if all you are looking for is a copy, then why didn't you copy it already? :confused:

Whereabouts are you in South Africa? For one of us to mail you a copy is going to take a week anyway.

My replacement copy came from the Cape to Jhb and it only took a week and the process was really painless - so if you have a genuine key there isn't a problem now is there?
 
Hate to break it to the original poster ... but the cool thing about Vista is that all the versions (x86) is on the dvd. The key determines what version will install. Therefore, if you have a Vista Ultimate key, then all you need is a Vista ISO ... boom ... Bob's your uncle.

Seeing as you are at an university, a dvd copy shouldn't be so hard. As for the legality, I don't make any any judgements :D
 
Are you serious?I know a couple of people with the 32 bit version...so does it give you a choice of which one to install during the setup?

pwn'd. Since you previously did the install with your original DVDs you know that it does no such thing.:rolleyes: x86 and x64 are on different disks. maestro_za was referring to Starter/Ultimate etc.
 
Havoc wtf are you talking about?How am I pawnt?I know that vista ultimate has 2 dvds with the different versions on each one. I thought Maestro said that you can use a 32 bit dvd and install the 64bit version. My friends have OEM versions which dont have the 64bit dvd.
 
given you are asking for a copy of vista,it really is no different if you use torrents etc to get a copy for yourself. unless what you are running away from is having to use your own bandwidth to get said vista. and of course you would be risking if you used the varsity's infrastructure to download a copy.
