Help me sourt out my Windows 7 Thread

Hey guys, okay I've went fully Windows 7, XP has been replaced now with the 7127 build. ;)

But I have a few problems, I got Route Sentry working, or atleast both connections connect, but it seems that the bandwidth isnt being split between the 2... When I check the log it says:

Then since I've got Route Sentry to connect both connections, by following the guide in the Route Sentry thread, I cant pick up the other PCs on the network anymore, I could...
 
Did you follow the guide in my sig? I can still pick up networked computers... (Make sure NOT to DISABLE TCP/IP v4 cos that's the network software suite used to communicate with computers over a network.
 
Yes, followed that guide only thing I changed was disabling "use default gateway" for my local account at the Internet Protocol Version 6 and Internet Protocol Version 4 advanced tab. Also I didnt change anything in the Routers settings because it was set to Bridge mode and Route Sentry works fine on the other PCs with Windows XP... But its set to Bridging (MEC)... Not to PPPOE

You should disable "Use default gateway". It causes conflict. The router's settings are fine.
 
I did disable it... Like you said in the guide... Just for the local connection though?

Yep just for the Local. What the Default Gateway does is it tells the data to be routed by that connection UNLESS it says otherwise in RouteSentry, which would be all your local IP addresses in the .dat file. Did you upgrade from XP to Win7 or was it a clean install? I am using the RC1 so it may be a bug in the 7127 Build

I just deleted the local telkom one that I edited, and uninstalled Route Sentry, now the network picks up the other PC...
 
Still havent been able to sourt out the Route Sentry problem...

But I've found another thing that is annoying, video playback seems very pixelated compared to playback in Win XP, if I stretch videos to full screen with VLC it looks blockish, is there some way to turn on something to try and help with it, because the same videos looked much better in XP :/

I have the same problem now and then, i solve it by disconnecting the local account, and reconnecting it...works for me. Try it and see. :)
 
Okay will do... Just another thought, in the registery I changed the wanendpoints to 2, no matter if it was 3? Should I have kept the ones that was 3 at 3 or was I correct in changing it to 2? Just tested something else, as soon as I untick the "Use default gateway" in those 2 places for my local account, the local account connects but doesnt even open local websites...

So something is going wrong with changing that setting or something...

Nope doesnt work.... As soon as I change that setting, my network stops working and the local cant even open local websites...
 
Ok, Ive got Route Sentry working, all I did was to just untick "Use default gateway" on Internet Protocol Version 4... And leave it ticked on Internet Protocol Version 6... But now the problem is that my network still stops working?

Any idea how I can go about solving this?
 
SlyFly, I would suggest to disable TCP v6 protocol completely (not just unticking the gateway option) on both PPPoE connections. You can leave the "Use default gateway on remote network" ticked on the International connection, but you HAVE TO untick it on the local connection.

Stroebs already explained exactly what the setting was. I'll try to explain it a bit different:
When you have selected that option, then the traffic will be routed through this connection if there doesn't a route entry to tell where the traffic should go to.
This is how RouteSentry functions: it allows all the traffic to go through the International account by default, UNLESS it is a local route (thus RouteSentry has to add ALL the local destinations in the routing table such that) the traffic will be routed through the local account.
 
Okay got it sourted...

Pada thanks for the post, I understand the concept etc. But for some reason it would just would not work like it should if I still have the TCP v6 enabled... Or have both TCP v6 and TCP v4 unticked at the Use default Gateway on remote network...

What I did now was disable TCP v6 for both connections and disable it Use default gateway on my local account, restarted PC and my network and Route Sentry is working 100%, I think the restart sourted out the network and removing the TCP v6 sourted out the Route Sentry trouble...

Thanks for everyone that helped. O BTW Can anyone point me to a link for the latest Route Sentry routes?

Guys I still have the problem of my network being disabled as soon as I start using Route Sentry with my 2 "dail-ups" in Windows 7...

Route Sentry works

Network works

By they just don't work together... Any ideas on this :)
 
You need a router with half bridge, so you router is one connection and you only make 1 connection in windows 7
