Help me understand DSTV now app

Some help/advice needed please.

I have the DSTV now app on my phone, my explora at home is connected to wifi.

The way I understand it is that I can now at work go on the app and set a movie/program to record at home on my explora, I can stream it to my phone now.

Problem, when I am not at home and use the app to select a program to download at home, it tells me I have to be connected to wifi, why does my phone also need to be connected to the wifi, if I am there I can then download on the explora, I don't need the app.

Am I understanding downloading from the app wrong?
 
I have never used the application before, but like a lot of streaming services today there should an option in the settings menu that will allow you to make of the application while off a wifi network.
 
You're a bit confusing :)
1. Do you want to use the app to schedule a download on your Explora ? Like in TV Guide , pick the show, click the red record button ?

2. You might have a setting on Mobile Data (this is on iPhone) that doesn't allow DStv Now to use it. Setting it to On will resolve that issue
 
Are you trying to watch recorded items that are on your explora on your phone? Can it do that?

Your single assertion is 2 different functions unrelated to one another

You can remote schedule
And you can watch stuff
Not remote schedule and then watch said recordings mobile

Yes, I want to use the app when I am not at home and not connected to wifi at home to schedule a download to my explora not the phone.

Sorry for replying so late, sorta forgot about the tread

Yes... that's what I want to do, remote scheduling.
 
Server error via home pc as well ? Have you been able to do it before or is this the first time you try ? Make sure your remote recording has been activated , as below

I'm now getting same when trying to record from the app. What's ever weirder, is that even online recording is not available. Seems there is something wrong with Remote Recording at the moment. My connectivity chaecker also fails the Rem Rec test, although everything is switched on. Will check on the DStv forums as well
