Help me understand my MODEM statistics

I have read the forum about SNR margins and Attenuation rates, and I'm still confused. Mostly because my MODEM seems to list something other than SNR. Here is what my MODEM shows:

"Line Attenuation": (Downstream = 34.5 db / Upstream = 19.7 db)
"Noise Margin": (Downstream = 13.1 db / Upstream = 16.2 db)

I don't know where to look for SNR. I can't find it anywhere.

So based on my statistics above, is my connection good or bad?

I'm on a 4mbps ADSL connection. My Downstream Connection speed is supposed to be 4096 kbps, and my Upstream Connection Speed is supposed to be 512 kbps. This used to be so, however recently my Upstream Connection Speed fell to 509 kbps and is now stuck like that. Is that bad? And why would my Upstream Connection Speed have fallen exactly?

Also, how do I find out what my SNR is?

Telkom implemented a new system, so most are getting 509 up on 4mbps, for me its 1020 on 10mbs instead of 1024.
Not to worry, your line stats are more than good enough currently, unless you are experiencing dropped connections, don't worry about it.

Nothing wrong. It fell to 509 because your adsl mode has changed from G.dmt which is ADSL which support a theoretical max of 8Mbps download to ADSL2+ which supports a theoretical max of 23Mbps I think it is.

The fact that you got changed to adsl2+ means some kind of upgrade happened at the exchange/dslam. Your area could most likely support 10Mbps or higher but with your line stats the most stable max would most likely be 10Mbps line speed.

OK, so I did some digging and found this:

So now I have a huge problem. Recently I moved to a new house. The new house had no phone line, and I had to get Telkom to come and install a line. It took them over a month (34 days) to come and install the phone line in my new house. I finally got my Internet up and running again, (which is Telkom ADSL 4mbps download speed and 512kbps upload speed.) For the first 5 days everything was working fine, but then today suddenly I'm constantly having issues with my connection disconnecting for no reason every few minutes. I then decided to check my MODEM/Router stats and I see in this new house my Noise Margin is usually somewhere between 3 db and 5 db. From everything I've read online that is bad. What can I do to fix this? I really don't want to deal with Telkom, because they're a bunch of incompetent dumbasses. And phoning their "support line" is not an option either, since they put you on hold for 5 years before anybody gets to you.

I don't know, should I just cancel my ADSL and get wireless Internet instead? If so what are my options? What are the best wireless choices to go for if I'm interested in online gaming?

Best option would be to get Telkom to fix your line.
