Hi. I took advantage of telkoms 3 month trial but opted out after the 3 months. Now when i decided to take up the package i have been told i would have to pay both phone and adsl line installation. Why is there a need for installation again and what options are available to get around this. thanks

This is Telkom, they are unpredictable.

Did you phone them and ask them why this is the case?

went to the store and the lady said its because the line was also cancelled. wonder why they dont just have a re-connection fee.

They do. It's 50bucks.

Does not make sense unless you cancelled. You should have cancelled the ISP portion and then downgraded the line.

What if you just ask for phone line install initially? When I got my line installed which was quite a while back, I had to pay for ADSL install if I ordered it at the same time as the phone line. If I however waited until the analogue line was installed and then ordered my adsl (self install) it was free. Maybe give that a try, pay the R50 telephone line reconnect fee and then order ADSL?
