help me with these mesh systems

I picked up https://www.takealot.com/mercusys-h...-home-mesh-wi-fi-6-system-3-pack/PLID91435207.

It works, I've only had one instance where I lost connectivity and I'm almost certain that was line related rather than mesh related.

Edit: So I have one in the center of this 2 bed property, connected to the main router. The others are a room+ away either side. Moving soon so setup may change. I get internet in the small garden now and by the front gate where as before I got practically nothing in these areas. You can easily set them up as access points, nice that they have 2 ethernet out.

e.g. [lounge {mesh}] - [bed 1] - [office (Router+{mesh}) - kitchen] - [{mesh}bed 2]

Can you link them via wired backhaul and do you have the option of additional ssids per node?

Looking to replace my existing mesh with something WiFi 6 and these mercusys look interesting

Yes you can and no I only think you can configure a guest ssid.

Curious why you'd need an ssid per node?

Wifi 5 doesn't have seamless handover. So you are stuck on the AP with diminishing signal until it cuts off completely, even if you are right next to a strong beacon.

Wifi 6 is the only way to go.

Nonsense.

802.11k, 802.11r and 802.11v have existed since WiFi4 already.

There’s nothing special about WiFi6 in regards to roaming.

I have some older wireless switches that would not connect to my 2.5 / 5 mesh so I had to run a 2.4 only ssid which is something the Amplifi mesh can do.

I need to add 1 or 2 more points which costs the same as 6 mercury WiFi 6 points.

Got 3x halo h80x and 2x halo h70x, 3 wired backbone and 2 wireless, I am impressed so far - things seem snappier and the speeds I'm getting further out are far better than what I had before.

Didn't need the additional ssids just reconfigured the devices for the mesh network and they were fine.

Seems like a good product.

Also not convinced about these mesh systems to be honest, i would still like to run fibre all over my place, then have a mesh system at each point

Running fibre all over might be overkill, Ethernet still does a great job
