I had to upgrade to sp2 because the symbian sdk requires it and i wanna code apps for mobiles/pdas, so i upgraded through the windows update thing rather than using a xp pro sp2 disk i have lying around (when installing that on boxes before i had no problems)
first thing i did was use the patch to change the number of concurrent pending tcp connections from 10 to 1024 and then i connected to the net
i could open myadsl in firefox and then suddenly it stopped responding, no internet apps worked but i could ping, so i disabled the windows firewall (which is a piece of **** anyway) and hey presto everything worked again (although it seems a tad sluggish)
but now after i connect, for about 2 minutes everything works and then nothing does at all, if i click a link firefox doesn't even attempt to open it, its almost like i have no internet connectivity and yet I can ping
that little LAN icon in my system tray (you know the 1mbps iburst one) has a little yield sign next to it and it says limited or no connectivity, when i right click theres a repair option, and when i click that it says 'Renewing your IP address' and eventually fails to do so
under connection status in the local area connection thing it says 'the problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to this computer'
does anyone know how to fix? I just want it to be like it was before i installed the update
