Refers Kubuntu 12.04/12.10 and other 12.04/12.10 Ubuntu variants.

I noticed that the entries in the menus of some apps can sometimes not be selected/highlighted - there is a hesitant flickering when passing over with the mouse, disabling effects does not help and also not a nvidia card issue as there are no problems with Scientific Linux.
I also cannot use tty terminals (1>6) as my login is rejected (password invalid).
Furthermore I also have this mouse problem with Live CD's using the newer kernels i.e. 3.2x and 3.5x.

Have tried changing a few lines in xorg.conf eg. replacing Option "device" "/dev/psaux" with "/dev/input/mice". No luck also with modprobe mousedev.

Have tried with the experimental 3.10 nvidia drivers, have tried nomodeset boot command, have tried increasing monitor refresh rate etc; all to no avail.

Any suggestions, as at the moment I can only really use my ultra stable SL 6.3.

Bloody frustrating.

Was experiencing messed up mouse behaviour on Ubuntu 12.10. This was on a desktop with an external USB mouse. There was a bug fix rolled out to the update repositories three days ago. This fixed the problem on my PC but maybe the issue you have is due to a different bug - have you run an update between the 5th and now?

garyc, glad you got sorted. I am not so lucky despite the updates. An 8yr. oldLogitech mouse does seem to be OK so far, but it means I still need the transceiver for the keyboard. The problematic mouse/keyboard combo is a Microsoft wireless comfort desktop 5000.
Maybe just wait for kernel updates. Thanks.
