Hi all - i just replaced a MoBo and drive. I need to clone the original drive to the new one. How do i do this in a hurry. I dont have Norton ghost. All i have is some boot cd`s and HdClone. HdClone estimates it will finish in 6 hours time. I dont have this much time to complete it. It is both 80gb drives.
Or is there a way i can just copy all the data from A to B and then do a repair installation in XP to make it boot and function?

Please help

Everyone always recommends BartPE and Acronis True Image (ATI) to me so I think those should be the ones that you try out first.

There are options in ATI to clone the entire drive bit for bit or to just backup applications and data, the latter taking less time so maybe try that.

um, this is not something you want to hurry. If you like your data.... or if it is important data... you do not want to rush things!

what is it with people....are we losing it as a race? were our ancestors, with sticks and stones and waterwheels genuinely more intelligent than the creatures of today???????? is it something they put in the water???:confused::confused:

Better idea. Download a linux-based cloning program (Qparted-live is a good example), instead of always recommending illegal methods of doing things. I've tried Acronis as a trial, but it has very limited funcionality in its trial version.

Be careful when you clone a system drive. Remember to shut down after cloning and remove the clone from your system before rebooting!
If you reboot with two active primary partitions, Windows will detect that and disable one of them - if that happens to be you main source system drive then your system won't boot and you'll have to manually fix it.

One of the best invstments I ever made was Acronis True Image. Latest version is Acronis True Image Echo Workstation, here for $79. Since my first investment in V6 in 2003 I've never had to a reinstall. My current 17GB Vista Ultimate installation is imaged in 6 minutes. It takes about the same to restore from another HDD. The 17GB on-disk compresses to about 12GB in the TIB file.
