Good day,

I've sent this off to one of my colleagues as my Linux is a little rusty

Will advise ASAP - More than likely Monday but if anyone else can help you in the meantime I'd appreciate it

Log with SELinux disabled

Hi,

I've disabled SELinux & the firewall and tried again, watching /var/log/messages

Get : Starting security manager 0 after inserting the bt dongle.
Then a bit later on some stuff about gconfd.
GConf server is not in use, shutting down.
Exiting

Further the results are the same as the previous. If I want to browse on my phone I still need to reboot it otherwise it takes forever.

What I could figure out from GConf that it keeps track of sware preferences. My question must it run? And if so help me pleez.

I got bluetoothed!!

Threw the bt dongle in the draw and pulled out the dku2 cable.

Could not come right with wvdial so tried KPPP. Left all the default settings except
change modem obviously to dev/ttyACM0 &
Init String2 to: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
And wallah...
Will try later to get the bluetooth going:eek:

Hi Dolphin71,

This will have to be traced out to see if the connection is established correctly, the modem strings below should work, however there are better ways of connecting to GPRS via the AT command line. See below. If there is still a problem, PM me your cell phone number, and we can put a session trace on his number and determine if the setup is completed correctly.

- the CGATT command will tell the unit to attach, or detach from the GPRS network. (not always necessary, as the CGACT command will force an attach).
- the CGACT command will initiate a connection to the GPRS network (replaces ATD)

The document for the nokia handset is attached as well. (this may differ slightly between manufacturers).

Thus to connect,

at+cgdcont=1,"IP","mymtn","",0,0
at+cgact=1,1
where 1st 1 is state (0 or 1) and the second 1 is the CID as specified in the cgdcont command.
to check status:- at+cgact?
to disconnect:- at+cgact=0,1

11.7 AT+CGATT GPRS Attach or Detach
3GPP 27.007 Section 10.1.9 /2/. The execution command is used to attach the MT to, or detach the MT from, the GPRS service. Any active PDP contexts will be automatically deactivated when the attachment state changes to detached.

Command
Response

+CGATT= <state>

+CGATT?
+CGATT: <state>

+CGATT=?
+CGATT: (0-1)

11.8 AT+CGACT PDP Context Activate or Deactivate

3GPP 27.007, Section 10.1.10 /2/. The execution command is used to activate or deactivate the specified PDP context(s). <cid>: is a numeric parameter which specifies a particular PDP context definition.

Command
Response

+CGACT= [<state> [,<cid>[,<cid>[,..]]]

+CGACT?
+CGACT: <cid>, <state>[<CR><LF>+CGACT: <cid>, <state>[...]]

+CGACT=?
+CGACT: (0-1)

Linux is all fine and well, but then you get to stuff like this. I rather prefer a Windows pc where everything just works for general use. Linux has just too little support and too much setup work to replace Windows for general use in the near future.
