Whats up guys.

I currently do have a gym membership with the GYM Company but only go there around once or twice a week (when I find the time after varsity) . When I am there I just spend around 40 mins on the treadmill and do a couple of curls and thats about it.
According to those online BMI calculators, I am a healthy weight, but I do want to make time for about a full hour of gym every second day to try and become more fit, to lose some belly fat and to develop my biceps a bit.

Can anyone recommend me a decent workout plan that I can maybe follow to achieve this goal? Just something I can follow to separate what exercises I do on what day and something that I can just keep increasing the number of sets I do per week.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Also if this helps by any chance- I have noticed recently that I have been having quite a large appetite, and being at campus from 6am-6pm daily, I do eat a lot of takeouts. I have however also tried to cut out fizzy drinks from my diet, and when I do decide to have something fizzy its generally coke zero. I also try and make sure I drink just over a liter of water on a daily basis.

Regards
Kaveer

Starting Strength or Stronglifts 5x5 are both good and similar beginner programs.

Download a fitness app from the Play Store/App Store. There are many that will provide varied and detailed workout programs to suit your fitness level, with progress tracking. No one on a forum will be as valuable. Don't be cheap - the best ones aren't free (but not necessarily expensive either).

What do you want to do, treadmill and curls... why would runners want strong arms? First start with what you want to accomplish.

Looking at your goals, you have two options: body building or HIIT (high intensity interval training). HIIT will probably be the better option for you, as it has more fitness elements in it. You will do a lot of strength training at much higher intensities, but lower weights. HIIT is probably also the best way to lose belly fat imo (sprints are your friend). Stop doing slow runs on the treadmill. It's not doing much for your goals unless you want to boost endurance. Also, to lose any fat around your mid-section, you will need to diet.

Take a look at:

www.bodybuilding.com has some very decent programs. Don't read too much into all the supplements - just eat properly.

bodyrock.tv is also a great tool with tons of video workouts that will challenge anyone. They have workouts from the absolute beginner to super fit people.

Second this - try one of these programs - Stronglifts/SS gets you into proper lifting in just 12 weeks if you stick with the program.

At the end of those 12 weeks, pretty sure you'll be in a position to see if it is working for you. However I can almost guarantee you will be disciplined in your working out, using a simple systematic program as opposed to something you come up with.

For me Stronglifts was simple enough that I knew where I was, what targets I needed to hit every workout and it made me helluva strong in a short space of time. No belt, no gloves, no pre-workouts, no extra supp stack - just hard work, dedication to form, and good food/whey protein(nutritech).

https://stronglifts.com/5x5/ is where you can find the basic info on getting into it. Youtube stronglifts workout vids if you decide to do the program too - shows you correct form on the major functionals.

Also check out Elliott Hulse's channel(strength camp) on youtube, search for stuff as it has a lot of vids now - but he certainly helped me with my exercise 'science'.
