So I've gotta install this wireless ip cam on a wireless LAN. Simple no? No! It's going into a Netgear router via cable, and via wireless laptop I've got it running in a browser. If I disconnect cable, feed is gone. Ive tried using the s/w on the cd that came with the cam to set it up but it seems to be missing a detail - I need to set the access point right? There's nowhere, that I can see, to do this in the camera software. How do I get it to work wirelessly?

Okay I figured out where to set the AP, intuitive it ain't. It's still not working without cable though. I access it through 192.168.0.130:808 - this should stay the same once the cable is pulled right? I started messing around with port forwarding on the router but then thought I'm making things unnecessarily complicated. Am I or is that required? What is supposed to change between cabled and wireless connectivity? The "use wireless" option in the cam software is definitely selected... I don't know what else to check?

How is the camera receiving an IP? via DHCP? Static?
It might be connected just on a different IP. The only time you would have to do anything with port forwarding is if you want to access it from outside of the subnet.

Port forwarding should only be needed when you want to access the camera from over the internet

In order to access it over wifi, once you pull out the LAN cable, it will be addressable with a different IP.

If you have an android device, download fing and see what IP your router is giving to the camera when you are trying to access it over wifi.

Hang on, you can also do that in your router setting, do it now and report back

I set it as static.

That's the thing, when I check "Attached devices" on the router it only shows me the laptop. Could it be the wireless feature is faulty? As far as I know this camera was a demo model of sorts, not new. Is there any other way I can determine whether the wireless feature is actually working?

ETA: If I check "Attached devices" on the router with the cable in, the cam is there. No cable, no cam. I've also reserved the address using the mac under DHCP.

arrrghhhhh patience is a virtue... it's working (probably was the whole time), just very slow at connecting with the router. Thanks for the assistance though.
