Can forum members please help me with the following problem ,

On one specific website which requires a username and password login , i fail to login ,i get directed back to the main again .this is with correct details .

if i type the incorrect information U/Password , i get "incorrect username /password" message .

If i use a normal dialup (56K) i can login into the website , i have tried 2 diffent broadband ISP 's , same problem. My firewall and antivirus been disable .

Not good to be entering username/pasword without a firewall, there are keylogging trojans just waiting to infest your computer.

Your MTU settings are probably set for dialup, that may cause page rendering problems with BB

Try making use of a proxy server such as cache.saix.co.za:8080.

Most forum software (e.g. phpbb) and many websites associate your IP address with your logged in session variable. If your IP address changes while moving between pages on the site, it thinks somebody is trying to hijack your logged-in session and thus disallows that user entry due to their different IP.

Since all ADSL traffic in this country ends up going through a transparent proxy, the IP address changes with each page request and sites that make use of the above IP address and session associations end up being quite a hassle to remain logged into. By making use of a non-transparent proxy such as cache.saix.co.za:8080, all the page request will come from the proxy's IP address and you should be able to remain logged in.

Thanks for the response , none of the suggestions work , i have tried more than 1 PC , tried 3 different browsers , funny thing is that when i called the webafrica support desk , the operator could log into the site with the information i gave him , his response ,they using UUNET , thats why , i have even tried MWEB adsl , same probs .

there are no popups , i can login perfectly with 56k dailup , problem is with adsl connection , just cannot login

Since you are using Webafrica which makes use of IS, which proxy server did you use? The cache.saix.co.za:8080 is only for SAIX users, it should work fine on your MWeb account but won't work on your Webafrica account.

Webafrica sells both SAIX and IS accounts i think
Correct, their unshaped offering is SAIX but the majority of Webafrica users will be using a standard shaped account in which case it would be IS.

Anybody know if IS has a public, non transparent proxy?

cache.saix.co.za:8080 seems to work for webafrica , but still same problem

Guess it could be using the checking the actual IP address and not the one presented by the proxy. An anonymizing proxy would get around this but then again this may not be the problem.

What is the website on which you are experiencing the problem?

Telkom have got me to load a proxy server for my browsing issues when trying to get onto IS hosted sites. They gave me dsl-cache.saix.net:8080. Can't say whether it has made a difference with the browsing issue yet, but it did kill my ability to log into the https Plesk backend of my business website.

My hosting guys are now trying to query the associated permissions with Telkom. Not holding my breath. Now having to switch between proxy and non-proxy settings to get around.

When does the pain stop?

@AjqNic , check your PM
I managed to login to the site by making use of a South Korean proxy (59.5.127.197:8080) as listed on the Proxy 4 Free site. I was able to browse around the site you mentioned without hassle, as soon as I removed the proxy settings I was automatically logged out.

Any proxy that masks your actual IP should be fine. I tried using "dsl-cache.saix.net:8080" a couple of times and it refused to login with the error "Too many simultaneous connections". After getting the South Korean proxy working I tried of the "dsl-cache.saix.net" proxy again and this time was actually able to login, attempting to login using the same proxy but a different account and different PC lead to me getting the "Too many simultaneous connections" error again. You can thus use the SAIX proxies but the site will only allow one logged in user per IP address. cache.saix.co.za is denying me access at present so I wasn't able to test it.

The site in question actually lists your IP address on the bottom right of the page. When testing what proxies work, load the page and check the IP address, then refresh the page and if the IP address matches what was previously listed you should be able to use that proxy to login.

@AjgNic , thank you very much for you input , much appreciated , got it working , but it is slow process to get the correct proxy , any suggestions from you will help , the local proxies are not working .
